Dirty Matcha Latte

Contrary to its name, a dirty matcha latte is not only safe for consumption but irresistibly delish. The “dirty” in this beverage is that tasty shot of espresso added into the matcha latte you are used to.With the smooth creaminess of matcha matched with a dark nutty flavour from the espresso, this recipe presents a perfect marriage of both ingredients.

What you need:

  • 1 shot of freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 cup of milk of choice
  • 2 teaspoons of matcha powder

  1. Heat up the milk into a milk frother and let it sit for a minute.
  2. Stir the espresso and matcha powder in a mug, until powder dissolves.
  3. Slowly add the milk into the matcha mixture and stir well.
  4. Gently scoop the milk froth onto the top layer of the drink, enjoy!

Tip: For this recipe, we prefer using soy milk as its natural flavour pairs well with matcha. Not sure which plant-based milk will suit your coffee better? Here’s a guide.

All over social media, this drink has taken the world by storm. Dalgona Coffee is a milk-based beverage that is topped with a foamy whipped cream, named after a South Korean candy called dalgona.

It’s not only made with just four simple ingredients but highly customisable based on your taste preferences. For an exciting flavour-burst, we’ve added a dash of cinnamon powder in this recipe.

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons of instant coffee
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of hot water
  • 1 cup of milk
  • A dash of cinnamon powder (optional)

  1. Combine instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Using a hand mixer, beat the mixture for 3 to 5 minutes until the colour turns golden brown and has a thick consistency.
  3. Pour the milk into a tall glass with a few ice cubes.
  4. Slowly pour the mixture on top of the milk and add a dash of cinnamon powder.
  5. Mix thoroughly, and enjoy!

Tip: Hand-whisking the mixture can take longer than expected and may result in a runny consistency. For effortless whisking, we prefer using an electric hand mixer.

  • ½ cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • ⅛ teaspoon of vanilla essence
